Below you will find a collection of recipes that I cook on a regular basis as meals for my family. I have a 6 year old son who favours starchy tomato based meals, and a  4 year old daughter who favours red foods as well as raw vegetables. We are a meat eating family, with no intolerances or allergies, and I do my best to provide a balance in our meals. My husband also enjoys Low and Slow barbecuing, so Sundays are generally reserved for this, and I get to have a night off cooking, though I will often still be involved in the vegetable prep, or making a sweet as we regularly have my parents over to join us for a meal and a game (board or cards). We also enjoy the occasional Vegetarian dish, however in our household this is more often used as a side dish to accompany either a BBQ or smoked meat.

Here are some things I try to put in place each week. This doesn't always work, and sometimes we still fall back to takeout, but I do my best to reduce the likelihood of this happening.

  • Only one rice based meal
  • Only one pasta dish
  • At least one Fish dish each week
  • Alternate meats so that we don't have the same two days in a row.
  • Rice and pasta dishes are not on consecutive days
